I've said over and over that I feel "Lets Do Lunch" is God's answer to my prayer concerning my weight. However, it is not working for me. Or, should I say I'm not working the program the way I should be. About two weeks ago I returned home from a cruise. Do I need say more? Although I didn't have any problem going back on the LDL program, the weight that I gained from eating so much on the ship is just not coming off. Again that may be my own fault as I stay so hungry and am always eating. I don't eat much meat, which I understand is the main source of protein. I don't even like meat all that much. I think the reason I stay so hungry is because I don't get enough protein. Also, my husband does not eat the same things I eat. Therefore, I have to fix different foods for myself after preparing foods for my husband, so I usually just grab up what's convenient, which is usually the allowed foods on LDL. However, I get so tired of eating the same things over and over that I sometimes, well a lot of the times, I will eat things I should not be eating. Another problem is that if I do eat protein for lunch, then I am starved at night as I don't go to bed until around midnight every night. My husband likes to eat his main meal at night. I don't want to give up on this program as I know it is from God; but please, I need to hear from anyone who has any ideas as to why I'm always hungry and always eating and what changes do I need to make. Thanks.

One thing I have done is to make a bowl of popcorn each day, (a large bowl), and I keep it on the kitchen table. That way if I get hungry or even get the munchies, I have something healthy that I can grab quickly. With all the different spices you can put on it, you can make it taste different each day.
Another thing you may want to do is prepare some LDL foods ahead of time, that way when it comes to the dinner hour, you can still have healthy foods while your husband has his meal. (Keep some LDL soups available and ready to be reheated, a great salad, a large bowl of fruit salad in the fridge, etc.)
Today marks week 1 completed for me, so while I am new, I do hope to help encourage you. I feel so much better since starting LDL, and I would love to see you stay with it and lose that weight you want to lose!
Remember; "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" - Philippians 4:13
Hang in there .... you can do this!!

Re: Very Discouraged
Betty, Good luck with this. I can honestly say that I started LDL twice and gained a pound or two on each week I tried it. I did hang in there for it, though. Now, about 17 days into it I am down 10 pounds.
I am the only one that eats like this in my family. My wife doesn't cook for me often these past two weeks. But the foods I eat are so simple to make that even I can make dinner.
I tell you, I have found a new staple in my life. It's beans. I am to the point this week where I have a taste for beans often and I have had some sort of bean soup most nights. I have not tired of it yet...maybe because I make such a variety of soups. Oh, and I eat any fruit smoothies and popcorn I want for treats. So, far I enjoy it because NOT ONCE have I had a craving for a candy or piece of pizza. I also found that as time goes on you don't need beano. :-)
One thing I did was to whack the Wasa's. I think that could have helped me lose the first pound. I stuck to a few Corn Thins(I use them like toast with unsweetened soynut butter and SF jam on them). I was discouraged, though, from eating LDL and not losing anything. Finally, the scales started moving.
Another odd thing. I noticed today at work that I only got a small veggie salad. Wow! I used to get a gigantic one and felt like I wanted more. Instead of loading it with chicken and such(which is fine if you do LDL for lunch) I loaded it with beans. A small salad filled me up today much to my disbelief.
Well, this is my experience and it may not be everyone's. I lost ten pounds on this so far and am willing to keep going on it. I haven't lost ten pounds easy like this even doing Atkins. Some of it could be water weight...but the lack of candy and pizza cravings are indeed real for me now. I had those bigtime with Atkins. Veggies, fruits, and meats have to be better than candy and processed flour. Keep at it and seek out encouragement from the forum here.
