Nephew needs Major Prayer warriors on his side
Hi all,
I just got a call from my sister saying my 15 1/2 yr old nephew w/ multiple psych issues was forcibly removed from his group home last night by police due to assaulting 2 staff members. We were told he quit taking his different psych meds about 3 weeks ago. 1 week ago he evidently called his mom and admitted to being suicidal. He is now in a locked psych facility (hopefully til his caseworker gets back from a known about vacation).
This poor child has been suffering from ADHD, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, Anger Management Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Bipolar Disorder w/ Suicidal ideations since he was 6. Now that he is bigger and stronger, he can't be forced to take his meds, and is more difficult to control when he doesn't.
His name is Jeremy and we need prayers for healing for him, strength and courage for his mom (Heather), and wisdom and guidance for those who will be dealing with and caring for him.
Thanks for all you can do to help us get prayers up for this child.

Just got an update from Mom...Jeremy was at a psych hospital and something happened that he had to go to a regular hospital due to complications. We need tons of prayers. I'll let you know more later!

Re: Nephew needs Major Prayer warriors on his side
Ok...briefly...Jeremy was NOT in a psych facility per se but rather a residential school of some sort that is affiliated w/ the sheriff dept there in MN. They specialize in assisting kids 13-19 who are "troubled". The only real info I have that I can share is there was an altercation between Jeremy and staff at the school/facility and he quit breathing and his heart stopped. They performed CPR and brought him back. He was transported to a hospital in Rochester MN.
GOOD/positives to come from this...Jeremy saw my dad (who passed away just over 9 yrs ago) and has told his mom that she doesn't have to worry anymore...he isn't going to cause himself to die cuz then he "wouldn't get to see grandpa again!" and that he is feeling the most peace/peaceful that he has felt in a very long time.

Re: Nephew needs Major Prayer warriors on his side
My heart aches for your sister and her family. I have a family member that stayed at Willow Street after being released from ICU. Willow Street is a mental health institution in Msp where they treat children with depression issues. Sad to say, it was horrible. At the time that everyone thought this person had reached rock-bottom, that place was the beginning of a completely new set problems. The children in there were mostly from fluant families where the parents had little or no time for their children. These kids ultimately taught a semi-sheltered child a whole new world of tricks and ways to "act-out". It was aweful after that. This happened in February 1993 and I remember it vividally. I'm glad your nephew is not there. Good luck.

We prayed for Jeremy by name at our Wednesday night prayer session at our church last night. Especially prayed that by the power of His love, Jesus would remove all those negative labels that have been attached to your cousin's boy. Salvation to the uttermost!!

So many mental health issues coming to light today. Thank God people are seeking and getting help. Adding Jeremy to my growing list in this special category.
Veronica -- Did I understand you correctly? While Jeremy's heart was stopped he saw your late father and wants to be allowed to join him someday in heaven??? Tell me that's not the Lord at work in his life, snatching Jeremy out of the enemy's clutches. PRAISE GOD.

gwen, we are DEFINITELY on the same page....and seeing that happen to jeremy encourages me to have hope for my own children who are not walking with the Lord...i HAVE to believe that there isn't anything the Lord can't do.........
my father's been praying for jeremy..he's so funny...i KNEW he would remember his name because it's a modernization of the name jeremiah...so, when he asks how jeremy is doing, he always says "jeremiah" first and then adds "jeremy"....listen, he's going to be 88 this october..........whatever works.....niki

Re: Nephew needs Major Prayer warriors on his side
I know that God is definately at work.
Yes Gwen you understood that Jeremy saw my late father while his heart was stopped and if you knew the special bond those 2 had when he was alive you'd understand even more. See My dad was like a father to Jeremy. My sister and her kids lived w/ my parents for a while and Jeremy followed my dad around like a little lost puppy. EVERYTHING my dad did Jeremy tried to copy. Even down to putting nails in his mouth and then walking around (Dad was a handyman around the house and would get a bunch of nails and hold them in his mouth while pounding them into something so he could easily grab the next one. Well Jeremy saw this and not only put them into his mouth but started to walk around. Dad decided he better change how he did things around Jeremy! LOL) Anyway...when my dad passed, that's when Jeremy's world caved in. He even tried to jump out a 2nd story window and when asked why, said I want to go live w/ Grandpa in Heaven!
SO for him to have seen my dad when all this happened was a great thing. My dad told him he had to come back because it wasn't his time. AND that he couldn't cause himself to die (suicide) because then he would not be allowed to return and see him.
NOW a bit ago I spoke w/ my sister's boyfriend. He said Jeremy is in protective custody at the hospital because someone has posed as a social worker and tried to get in to see Jeremy. The hospital people are afraid someone may be trying to hurt him more. My sister was even thrown out of the room and told she couldn't be there to see him (wasn't authorized even though she got authorization from DHS!)
I know God is working though because about the time this happened My oldest daughter was getting really upset and asking what it feels like to die (she doesn't know what's happening w/ Jeremy) and now she's more relaxed.
Jeremy was baptized as a baby. My mom talks to him every chance she gets about God and Jesus. Even my sister talks to him, she just doesn't always go to church I don't think. But that doesn't bother me. My dad used to say "the best place to worship is in HIS creation!"
Thanks for the prayers and sorry this is so long!

Re: Nephew needs Major Prayer warriors on his side
Veronica, it's beautiful story, and not too long at all. One of the women's groups at our church is called FROG (Fully Relying On God). Their faces just shine when they talk about the Lord. The way you write about your family, I get an impression of you as like one of those ladies -- a beautiful, strong woman of faith. Your family is so blessed to have you standing in prayer for them!
And don't let yourself get so stressed out by ball games & practices! You'll miss them when they're over!
In His love,
Gwen

Re: Nephew needs Major Prayer warriors on his side
Just talked to sister. She said Jeremy is still scared terribly however he is healing physically. She also said they are moving him from the hospital tomorrow to a new foster home in Wisconsin. She mentioned that Jeremy can tell that people are praying for him. He can feel the prayers. So just a quick THANKS from him and a "Please keep praying!!" as well.

Re: Nephew needs Major Prayer warriors on his side
My uncle came home Saturday. He is doing better although it doesn't appear they sent home health which he definately needs to check up on him. So since he lives within 2 miles of myself and Mom, we are checking in on him as frequently as we can. I took some of my bean/tomato soup and some split pea soup for him yesterday.
Thanks for the prayers everyone. I wouldn't have been able to do it so far without.
And Jeremy was being moved today to somewhere in Wisconsin. Hopefully all is going well!
