Please pray for my step-mother and her other sons and daughters; not me.
I mean, I have a hard time with death in general...,    but my father and step-mother married after everyone was grown and out of the house. I never even met this brother. I DO, however, love his mother with all my heart and cannot help but worry about HER in this. And his older sisters and brother and younger sister... I can't imagine what they must be feeling right now. All the dear ones who have died around me in the last 2.5 years were not from self-inflicted trauma. That just puts an entirely different hurt into the loss.

My younger brother lives in Florida, I don't expect he'll fly in.
My older brother already had plans to take his step-son camping. He has decided to continue with those plans.
I feel like at least one of my fathers kids should be there to support our step-mother. So I am taking off work on Friday and, at 4am, driving to New Mexico in time for the 10am memorial service. Then come back home the same day. It's a 5 hr trip.

Dear One, although you are so humble to not ask for any prayers for yourself, I must include you in my prayers because you are my friend and I love you lots and besides that God would expect no less than lots of prayers for you.
Love and God Bless

Enjae,
I pray that you will have safe travel and a blessed time with Katy. How sweet and supporting of you to be with her during this time of grief.  Blessedly, nothing takes God by surprise, and since He is everywhere, all the time, He will accompany you and be there during your time with Katy. God bless you.
Pat

Dear Enjae, I also wonder when is enough going to be enough in your life.  Try to remember how resilient you are and how far the Lord has brought you.  Paraphrasing Joyce Meyer, God is with us THROUGH the troubles & pain.  But Oh, how I long for a detour around it...

Each of us feels grief in our own way, but I want to share something might help you a little.  When Mama died in December 2003, a very wise and special neighbor brought me an arrangement of 3 small Christmas cacti, two white and one fuscia.  She told me they would bloom each year, in remembrance of my mother.  Now, almost 5 years later, when I look at them, I don't feel that tearing pain, but rather a sweet and gentle nudge from the Holy Spirit that she is happy and whole with Him and I don't have to suffer for her any more.  The cactus has a memory of comfort and peace attached to it, and it prompts me to feel the same way.  Isn't that beautiful?

If you haven't already, try to find something visual in your surroundings that has peace and comfort attached to it, and use it to help you through your grief.

May the Peace That Passes Understanding flood your heart today.
Love, Gwen

:D
I have a lot of things around me of my mother, including her ashes. [Her desire was to be cremated, for me to keep her with me, and for whatever I decide when my time is done that her 'cremains' be with me. Like if I choose to be buried, her urn goes in my casket. If I want to be cremated and have my ashes scattered, her ashes  will be mixed with mine....]
I wear her favorite ring.
I had a necklace made with a picture of me and her in it.
I have some of her art, some of her quilts.
I have my precious memories of the good times together...
(And I am learning to let go of the bad memories.)

Sounds like you've got mementos covered.  I had a feeling you would.  Although I have many personal things that belonged to my mother, and they are precious to me, they don't have the same message for me as the cacti, which remind me of her actual departure for heaven.  That's the comforting part.  But like I said, grieving is highly individualized.

Thank you for sharing your experiences.  Do you realize how many thousands of times your posts are read?  You are helping thousands of people.

Love, Gwen

An update:
My friend that has cancer and has been in the hospital for several weeks -- I just learned a few minutes ago that her doctor has made a decision to stop chemo and move her to the hospice wing in a couple of days. I'm losing her too.
Abba Father knows best.
I am so sad.

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((H U G S))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

It's looking like there is a great home-going going on in your life.  You will have a great audience waiting for you to get to the heavenly shore when it is your time to move there!

Like the words to a song keep coming to me, "Cry if you need to, Miss me if you must, but don't worry about me, I'm in a place that I love.".

Doug (one of our employees in the factory) just came up to me and told me they found his daughter dead in bed.  She went to bed with a migraine headache and woke up in her new home.  She was only in her 30's.  So, age has nothing to do with when we move to our new home.

Hang in there Sweetie, God loves you and we all love you too!  And here are some more

i'm so sorry, nj........my best friend's mother died yesterday and i'll be going out east in a couple of days for the wake and the funeral, so i'm in the same frame of mind as you are................PRAISE GOD they're with the Lord and THEIR suffering is OVER...........
YOU just keep looking UPWARD........there're NO CLOUDS there and NO PAIN............................if anything, feel sorry for US because they're in glory with the Lord and we're down here...........BUT, not for long.........don't worry about what you eat...try to eat as many allowable foods as you can even if you're eating stuff that you shouldn't.............you KNOW what Abba says about that.......take each day at a time and donworryaboutit(ok...that's a paraphrase)..................love you, niki

Please, everyone who has prayed for me during this time of difficult decisions, continue to pray. Firstly, in THANKSGIVING for helping me to come to the right decision for my furry-boy, and secondly, for guiding the hands of the surgeon and for speeding 'Reo's healing.

Prayer going up!  *hug*

Doreen THAT prayer request was from a year ago. 'Reo's leg was broken at the elbow. They repaired it by placing a pin in it. It healed a little crooked but he can walk just fine on it. BUT he can only go about a half a mile before he starts limping on it; and I have been going about 3 miles on my evening walk. So I bought a jogging stroller at a yard sale and now I push it empty while 'Reo and I walk, then when he starts limping I load him into the stroller and we keep going. It's a hoot!
Thank you for reminding me of this prayer request. God has taken me through a lot of stuff lately.
