Direction from the Lord

Post by Jami »

I want to request prayer for my Husband and our family.  My husband is the pastor for Lighthouse Baptist Church.  He left his full time job as a fireman in June of this year for full time ministry.  Although, he was still a County Councilman in our county.  He was just up for re-election and lost.  Even though he is actually relieved to be getting away from the politics, we used the money we got from that job to live.  Our church is young (we started it in our garage 4 years ago) and up until now, they strictly pay our bills, house pmt., etc.  We also have a box in the back of our church for people to put in extra as the Lord puts it on their hearts to do so.  Anyway, we have faith that the Lord will provide and is going to do a great work in our lives but we just would like prayer for direction from the Lord.  We are completly living by faith now.  Praise the Lord!!!!

Working for Him,

Hi Jamie...

May God bless you and your husband for helping to spread His Word.

I would like to make a suggestion:  (maybe you're already doing this)  If you guys need more money coming in, then just take some of what you have and give it to someone else who needs it even more.  Don't be afraid that you don't have enough to give to others without putting yourself in more financial jeopardy.  God loves this and it sort of primes the well for more influx of resources to the giver. It's miraculous sometimes to watch how money flows back in after giving it away....it's almost like you really can't give away money when given with real God inspired Intent and with the faith that He sees what you are doing in His name and that He will reward you multiple times over.  It doesn't have to be much....could even be something that you have at home that you don't need but that someone else desperately needs, like a bed...whatever....but the more value the thing you give away has to you, the more, it seems, God will repay you for your generosity in giving it away.

Again, may God bless you....and please keep us posted on how you're doing!

Jamie,  I just had to stop by and say my prayers are with you also.  There are not a lot of pastors that would do what your family is doing.  I know God will supply your needs as we have seen HIM work in our lives and bring us through some really tough times.  I pray your church will prosper and many will come to know JESUS because of the sacrifice your family is making.

Please let us know how your family is doing from time to time.

God bless,

Thank you for all of your prayers!  He has taken care of us every step of the way.  We started the church in our garage 4 years ago.  Within 6 months we had a church building and I was quitting my full time job.  I had just had a baby.  I was bringing home more than my husband and he was at the fire department.  Then, like I said, this past June he left his full time job.  And, with each step, he blesses and blesses.  Then, with this last loss of income, my husband did give extra.  Instead of giving our normal 10%, he gave 20%.  We got back almost double.  It truly is amazing and you can't ever figure it out.  But I know it seems like we live better than we did when we were working in the world.  There is nothing more satisfying than working for the Lord.  And, he does take care of his people.  Thank you again for the prayers and encouragement.  Our church only has about 30-40 people in it right now but we are growing spiritually and I really think that the Lord is getting ready to do a big work in our lives.

Love and God bless,
Jami
