As for my closet, it is a mess. For church I was going to wear my flowery skirt I have (HAD) 3 blouses that went well with them. Well I wore a dress instead. Tops are way to big. As for going shopping I am going to wait until closer to my cruise so things will fit. I am a good seamstress and I am altering alot of my things to wear for a while. When they can't be altered anymore out they go. I have way to many clothes as I wouldn't throw anything away as I was always going down in weight and up in weight So no matter what way I was going I had something to wear. Now out it goes as I AM NOT GOING BACK AND THAT IS IT.

Re: twenties
Donna,
First of all, Congratulations! However, I am mentally challenged because I had to ask what ONEDERLAND was and now I don't know what "hitting the twenties" means
You are really a talented lady! On top of all the ribbons you won at the county fair, now I find out you are a seamstress and can alter your own clothes -- I'm jealous
. I just spent $8.50 just to have the waist taken in about one inch on one pair of slacks! So, for each pair of slacks you have to alter, put $8.50 away and you'll have more spending money for your cruise!

Donna, I am with you 100%. I am actually embarrassed about the amount of clothing I have to give away. Of course, I am happy to do it as well.
With LDL, there is no more going back. We have the key!

Hitting the Twenties When ever I drop weight by the ten pound mark it means I have gone into another number. I started at 260 and went into the fifties, forties, thirties and now the twenties. Soon Onederland with be here. It is my way of counting backwards.
As for all my talents God gave me the way to learn. I could never read well as I was told in the fourth grade that I was dumb, stupid and couldn't read. So I didn't even try anymore. I did make it thru high school and some collage. I do read well today but I don't enjoy it. I taught myself to do most things by trial and error. I have tried most things and some I will not do again. If I don't enjoy it I don't do it. Snoopy is also quite talented. There are some things I can't do now as my eyes are not as good, but I do some kind of hand work daily. As for today it is the first day of the new QUILTING season and we are excited to get back to the group there are seven of us that gather on tuesday's

Re: twenties
CL,
Thanks for the explanation on the "twenties"
I will look forward to the day when you hit your next "twenty" and then guess what? ONEDERLAND is just around the corner
.
I truly believe a person is born to be creative/artistic; others excel in other things (science, math, sports, etc.). I have tried sewing and am really lousy at it, but then again, I love flowers and have several perennial gardens. My busy work with my hands is holding a book to read, which is my passion. I think I'll start a thread!!!
I know how hard it must have been for you to grow up being told you were dumb, stupid and couldn't read. I have a granddaughter who has had a hard time learning (her father called her stupid) ever since she began kindergarten. Two years ago she was tested for the fourth time and finally the school authorities found out she has a thought processing problem. This means it takes her longer to read and then understand what she has read. An IEP (Individual Education Plan) was created for her that allows her to take as much time as she needs for tests, her homework, etc. Her grades have improved dramatically. I also know a woman I used to work with who has several learning disabilities (dyslexia being just one) and she also taught herself. She now has her Master's degree in education and is the Director of The Learning Center at our local community college.
Enjoy your winter quilting!

Re: twenties
My brother-in-law is a cancer doctor and never thought he was creative. Ten years or so ago, he started a hobby of making yard art out of farming tools by welding. He is really good at this and it is a great way for him to express his creativity. Personally, I think everyone has it in them to be creative. I always think of it as how we are made in God's image and He is the Creator, so we share in some of His creativity.
Having been a teacher for 24 years, I've had all kinds of students. I've had many with learning disabilities and many that needed no help at all. I found in some cases that because those with learning problems had to work harder, it made them better workers when they grew up. Many, who everything comes easy to, fall apart when a little struggle comes along. As far as a teacher calling a student "stupid," that is awful. I've wondered over the years why some people even chose to be teachers, because you can tell they dislike children. I think the first prerequisite should be a love of children. It is a very difficult profession, though. I know that teachers are human and do make mistakes. The frustration level can get very high.
BTW, Donna, I'm about to enter my 40s!!
I'm right on the verge of it and can't wait. My goal is getting closer and closer.

Re: twenties
I had a difficult time in school too.
Then at 35 I was diagnosed with Dyslexia and A.D.D. (Hmph! Where were all those letters when I was growing up! lol)
I call them "creative reading" and "creative living".

I think what is wrong with all of us today is the things they put in our food. As for the very young children I think some of there problem is they are being raised by someone other than there parents and they strike out for attention. As for the letters If I were to be tested I would most likely have them too. At 66 I realy don't care as I have adjusted to all my faults and I really like myself the way I am.

Clown Lady- You go girl! it's so important for us to accept who/what we are. Think the serenity prayer- accept those things we cannot change and change those things we can (weight, attitude, style...). Keep on keeping on, Donna. Pam
