Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Well I put a bag of mixed beans, peas, lentils in my crock pot last night and made the 3 bean chili recipe. It cooked all night and was too thick so I added a can of tomatoe sauce this morning.
B: Fruit Smoothie - 4 lemons, handful of frozen raspberries,1/2 c. unsweetened pineapple + 1/2 c. pineapple juice, 1 pkg splenda
1/2 C. bean meatless chili
1 c. pineapple
L: 2 fried eggs & Turkey sausage
D: Bean Chili Soup & cherry/banana pie
Ok this will be my day that I have planned out. If I get hungry I will eat some extra bean soup.
The Fruit Smoothie I am drinking is wonderful in taste, nice and sour. I don't like real sweet juice so adding lemons is perfect. But with the raspberries I notice the drink is full of tiny seeds. Is thee a seedless rasberry out there?
I can't find the spice package to make morning sausage so I am going to try to add my own and see what happens.
I measured myself around hips, belly and chest. I did weight myself just so I know where I began and then I will stay off the scale.
I still don't have my book so I am guessing on some of what I am supposed to be doing. Is there a limit to the protein I am supposed to eat for lunch?

Welcome on board
You are starting off good. Keep it up. As for the sausage look into the receipe section as RT has a breakfast sausage posted there. It is made two ways one with a spice package and the other with your own spices. I have not tried it yet but the say it is good. As for the rasberries I don't know if there is a seedless one. As for your bean soup next time add a little more water when cooking them so they won't be so thick.

Wendy, all berries are made up of seeds, so I don't think you'll ever find any that are seedless. My hubby has trouble with the seeds. Strawberries are the least noticeable. I never thought of lemons being put in smoothies. May try it. Glad to have you with us on the train to Skinnytown.

Thank you for all your help. I hadn't even thought about talking to our Pharmesist about grapefruit. Also, I don't like real sweet juice but I love sour lemonade. That is what gave me the idea to put the lemons in. They have large seeds so it is easier to remove. I liked it so well I was tempted to make another one today! My husband said he will start on LDL tomorrow. I do hope some husbands maybe can give us some ideas of what he can take for lunch that will be filling. He takes alot of medication and will have to eat enough to take the pills at lunch time. He doesn't like chicken very well so I can't send like a chicken breast.

Wendy,
If you like grapefruit, Roger says in his book that when he ate it for breakfast he lost weight faster. But, he also said "for some of you on blood pressure and some other medicines, physicians advise that you not eat grapefruit in any form. Be sure to check with your physician".

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
My second day:
B: Raspberry & Lemon Smoothie - 2 pkg splenda, Lemon juice, Water, frozen Raspberries
1 cup Cherry & Banana Pie w/ Cinnamon
2 Boiled Eggs
L: Lean Pork Loin, Sour Kraut w/ onion soup mix & sour cream
S: Apple
D: 1 Cup Cherry & Banana Pie w/ cinnamon
Salad w/ ff dressing
Popcorn
This is my planned day. I know that sour cream is not allowed but I made this before starting on this eating program yesterday. I figure there isn't enough in it to matter to much and the next time I make it I will leave out the sour cream.
My Husbands day:
B: 1 cup cherry & Banana Pie w/ Cinnamon
1 Banana
L: Chicken & Corn Chowder
S: Apple
D: Apple
Salad w/ ff dressing
PopCorn
Mike is feeling a bit deprived this morning on his way to work. I think we need to re-think his food program to allow more. I know we are allowed to eat all we want right now but it is a matter of knowing what we can eat to give us variety.
I am very excited feeling like there is hope for our futures.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Welcome Wendy & Hubby! The good news is...there is HOPE for the future. I think both you and your hubby will LOVE this way of eating, and after just a few days, you will begin to feel the difference. That's the great part of LDL. You'll have more energy and just flat feel good!! I was totally convinced, sold and converted after only 3 days! I will eat this way forever, and am so thrilled I found LDL. I think you'll love it, too.
Good luck on your journey to better health and a smaller waist line!!

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Wendy,
Your husband, Mike, needs to eat A LOT MORE at lunch. Is the chicken and corn chowder a soup or did he have chicken and corn chowder? I would add a hugh salad with fat free dressing or make a 3-bean salad (my husband loves this) and a veggie of some sort. When you first start on LDL it is important to eat UNTIL FULL, even STUFFED is okay in order not to be hungry. For supper have him eat more fruit or fruit smoothies.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Thanks My husband was happy to hear he could eat so much for lunch. He loves salads so I will make a big salad for him to take tomorrow.
Hey for anyone who likes pickled beets but can't have the sugar. I didn't want to can so I took the beets and I cooked them. I had dill pickle juice left from a large jar of pickles from costco I put the beets in juice and after about a week or so they were pickled and tasted great.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Wendy, Your hubby and you can have a bowl of beans if you are still hungry after you have had your fruit for dinner. Get some cornthins. Can order them from Amazon.com. They are fat free little corn cakes. You can put bean spread, salsa, or pesto on them and enjoy three or four with your soup. Thanks for the tip about beets. I just love them. Be sure to eat enough. I have never gone hungry on this woe; however, when I was on other diets, I was always hungry. I did exactly what Roger said to do. I ate beans, corn, peas, salads, squash, tons of fruits and veggies. I ate meat for lunch with a whole lot of the above foods. I have lost very well and my sizes have gone down several sizes. It still blows my mind that I can be so satisfied. I had so much fun going to the mall today with my hubby, and I wore a new pair of jeans 4 sizes smaller. We ate at Ruby Tuesday. I had a hamburger, no bun-smothered with raw onion, tomato, and lettuce. Then I also started with a huge salad. I had so much fun putting edamines, peas, and chick beans on my salad. I would have never done that 5 months ago. I thought they would make me fat. I had beets on the side. I was so satisfied. Hubby had fries, and a cheeseburger. He also had a salad. We had lunch with our granddaughter. She manages a Hallmark store and is in part time school. We had a great conversation while eating. It will get easier as time goes on. Keep asking questions when you have them.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
thank you for all the encouragement. I finally bought some grapes at over $3.00 a lb today so I could try them frozen. I would have never have dreamed I would have spent that kind of money on fruit.LOL
I see we can eat all the corn we want but when I looked at my can of corn it has sugar in it. Do we just eat frozen corn?
I was going to buy watermellon today and living in Montana that was kinda a laughing matter. The store lady said not only do not have watermellon until spring but we won't find it in any other store in town either. So we bought a cantalope which is my least favorite of the two.
I have still been suffering today with a headache but my stomach is feeling much better today.
We went into Missoula today but I was afraid to eat out so we took an apple with us. I tried to make it a quick trip so we could eat lunch before we left and when Mike got off work head into town and be back in time for dinner. I was really feeling weak by the time we got home so my sweet husband fixed us a beautiufl salad.
I keep thinking if I eat to many beans I will get so sick of them I won't want to eat them. I am writing down recipes to try to have variety in cooking the beans.

Wendy, Montana is a beautiful state. We stayed in Missoula a couple days. we wanted to see the Story mansion. He was from our neck of the woods. $3.00 is high for grapes. I'm still paying a whole lot less. Ohio is closer to SA.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
My husband works at the Daly Mansion doing archiving and what ever they need done. We have been here many years and never went to the Story Mansion, I guess we will have to do that some time.
I was wondering, when I was at the store today I say Crystal Light has sugar free popsicles but when I read the ingred. and it says natural ingred. at the end of ingredients. I think I remember reading somewhere on LDL that if it says natural flavors not to eat it.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
third day much better
B: Refried beans, 2 eggs, 2 slices cheese
Fresh Pear
L: Chicken & Corn Chowder
Grapes & Banana
D: Orange banana smoothie
Bean Soup
Popcorn
Mikes day:
B: Bean Soup
S: Dried Apricots
L: Chicken & Corn chowder
Banana & Grapes
D: Cauliflour Fake Potato Salad w/ hotdog relish
This is what our day will look like. I am trying to make the taco soup without meat and just with white beans. My taco seasoning seems to have things in it that doesn't look like I am supposed to have like potatoe starch & sugar. They are at the bottom of the list of ingred.
I was so much more satisfied this morning eating refried beans & eggs with my fruit. My stomach felt much better and I have more energy today.
Eating popcorn last night felt just like cheating! I get hungry for salty things so I believe this will do the trick.
Saturday we do an all day fleamarket so I am trying to figure out what to make that is portable and filling since we will have to eat breakfast so early.
Ok I am editing this to say my bean soup did not get done in time for dinner. So, I quickly put together Potatoe(Fake) salad for Mike and I ate the left over bean soup from my first day. I also pulled up the Dreamy Creamy Orange Vanilla Smoothie recipe. If you don't have this as part of your recipes you need to! It tastes just like those wonderful Orange Creamsicles that are so delicious. By the way, my vanilla did not have any sugar in it. I noticed someone mentioned theirs had sugar in ingred.
I think I am going to have to go back to my original thoughts on cooking bean soups the night before instead of in the morning.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Hi Wendy,
I just wanted to welcome you to LDL. I too just started the program. I have been doing it since November 1. So far so good. I have dieted so much in my life, though, that I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have my fingers crossed. I love the LDL tomato soup. I mix lean beaf and turkey into it and vegies for my lunch. I don't have my book yet. I am hoping I will have it for some reading over the weekend. I have been using the boards as my guide for the moment. I can't wait for the book to get here. Have a great weekend, ~jess~

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Sicilian Mama I thank you for letting me know about canned compared to frozen.
I love using lipton onion soup mix. Is there anything I can use in place of that?
I am still waiting for my book to come. I only ordered it a week ago so I hope it hurries.
Boy you have that right! I feel like I hardly ever leave my kitchen. It is really hard for me to cook so this is a challenge. I have 200 lbs to lose and have a bad knee and my back only allows me to stand for short periods of time. I have a chair I can sit in so that helps but I have to do this in shifts. Using my crock pot has been a total blessing for soups and beans.
The 1st 2 days I felt totally overwhelmed but this being only my 3rd day I am already feeling better about things. Journaling is a great help to plan out my day ahead of time.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Welcome Jessica
I am thinking this is an eating plan that can definately work but does seem like a lot of work right now. I have dieted most all of my adult life. I should say dieting or just having falled off crazily eating everything in site. I am trying to look at each day and not looking so much at the years it will take me to lose this weight.

Wendysgoodnews 4th day to weight loss
B: Refried Beans, cheese, 2 eggs
Fresh Pear
L: Chicken & Corn Chowder
Fruit
D: White Bean Taco Soup w/ mustard
Banana
Rye wasa ff w/ Waldorf salad w/o soy nuts
Mikes Day:
B: Strawberry, banana, pineapple Smoothie
L: Cauliflour Fake Potato Salad
2 Turkey sausage patties
Fruit
D: White Bean Taco Soup
Rye Wasa ff w/ waldorf salad w/o soy nuts
strawberry banana smoothie
I made waldorf salad mix to put on lettuce for tomorrow lunch then we couldn't wait to try it so we had a bit on a rye wasa. I put water chestnut in the salad instead of soy nuts. It tastes delicious and it made enough to last for days.
Ok this is how our day is looking. We finally got our book in yesterday but haven't have a chance to read any yet. I skimmed through the recipes in the back and saw things in the recipes I didn't know were on LDL.
Good news is I weighted my self this morning on my 4th day and I am down 6 lbs. I know I am not supposed to be weighting but my husband promised to remove scale and put in basement today.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Thanks
I am sure it is just water loss but still feels good. My feet are skinny today and generally I retain fluid in them so this is great!
