Sicilian Mama, you said you drink a lot of green tea.  Is unsweetened Arizona Green Tea acceptable or do you make your own with tea bags?  I'm not cued to thirst and I don't drink much at all.  I think this may be one of the reasons that I'm not losing as fast as I should.  I do like the Arizona Green Tea.

Tonz,

Roger says we can drink Diet Arizona Green Tea with Ginseng.  It is sweetened with honey which is okay. I drink this tea because I am too lazy to make my own.  I also use it to flavor my smoothies.

S.Mama -- your blog is fantastic!  You are truly a wonderful, insightful writer and I loved the pictures of your "men" but I couldn't figure out if all three are your sons, or if the oldest one is your husband.

wow 6 am came really early in fact way to early for a saturday morning

B:  Refried Beans w/ 2 eggs & cheese
    Banana
L:  Waldorf Salad
    Banana
D:  Bean Soup w/ mustard
    1/2 Corn Thin

Mikes day:
B:  Avacado w/ salt & pepper
    Pineapple
L:  Waldorf Salad
    Banana
D:  Bean soup w/ mustard
    1/2 corn thin

Well I ate my refried beans and eggs for breakfast at around 6 am and other then I ate a banana I never got hungry.  It is now 3 pm and I am finally home and ready for lunch.  I have felt so good today with so much energy.  Even seeing people all around us today eating donuts and junk food never even bothered me, usually I would see a chocolate frosted filled donut and have to have one or two.  It was a real encouragement to realize after such a short time I have not craving those things anymore.

What handsome boys you have!  Everyone gives me such hope that I can do this and be successful, leaving my past failures in the past.  I am finally seeing myself in the future with a thin body rather then feeling hopeless like I will be fat forever.  Even my doctor told me that once our bodies get so overweight we can't expect to lose more then say 1/3 of those extra pounds when your over 50.  He says it is just too hard.  I can't wait to go back when I have lost a bunch of weight and prove him wrong.  I am loving how I feel on LDL and that I am not hungry all the time and feeling deprived.

Wow 6 days and I feel soooo happy and energetic!

B:  2 very thin slices of ff ham fried with no oil to taste like chewy bacon
    2 eggs
    Creamy dreamy orange smoothie
L:  Lemon Zest Chicken
    Butter Beans as potatoes
    Chicken gravy
    cole slaw
D:  Popcorn
S:  Raspberry, Banana pie

Mikes day:
B:  2 think slices of ff ham
    2 eggs
    Water
L:  Lemon Zest Chicken
   Butter Beans as potatoes
   Chicken Gravy
   Cole Slaw
D: Bean Soup
Fresh Carrots, Celery w/ spinach dip
S: raspberry/ banana pie

My husband weighed himself this morning and was excited to be down 2 lbs.

My son is home from College this week end so I am excited for him to wake up so I can make him a Creamy dreamy Orange smoothie.  He will be surprised how we are eating now.  He is blessed to be of the skinny group that doesn't much care if he eats or doesn't.  Plus he is very athletic and is always playing soccer.

Ok I made the Lemon zest Chicken I actually added a little rosemary to the marinade since I didn't have fresh Thyme so mine didn't have any smell so I figured it probably wouldn't have any taste..  Chicken was sooo moist and flavorful.  The gravy was heavenly and the butter beans tasted just like potatoes and we put gravy over it.  I posted this recipe in the meal section.

Another day.  Yesterday I cooked things up ahead while cooking a big lunch.  I felt like a chef with things cooking on every burner and in the oven.  I still have a few things to make today so I am not having to make soups all week.  I haven't measured myself other then before I started but I can tell I have lost in my stomach.

B:  Refried beans, cheese & 2 eggs
L:  Leftover chicken breast, butterbeans w/ chicken gravy
D:  Bean & Tomato soup
fruit jelly on 2 corn thins

Mikes day:

B:  3 tsps Spinach dip
    Orange
L:  Chicken & Pineapple Salad w/ pineapple juice as dressing
D:  Bean & Tomato Soup
Spinach dip on 2 corn thins

Oh my!  That recipe for thick tomato soup was the best.  I blended the beans and put in the tomatoes for thickener.  The only tomatoes I had was stewed so the soup turned out chunky but very flavorable.  I added a little italian seasoning with the basil so it was like an spaghetti tomato soup.

I started this program a week ago saying how I am not a cook.  I don't even like to cook!  But all these recipes have made it fun and I feel like I am accomplishing something very good.  I have never been much of a veggie eater so I thought this would be a challenge but I am finding that I can eat the veggies I like by being creative with them.  Who ever came up with the idea to use butter beans as mashed potatoes and fillers for everything-  I love you.LOL

Wendy,

If you want to see some of my favorite LDL meals, let me know and I'll send you links.  Some are really easy peasy (as Little Mary would say).

I would love for you to do that.  I have an envelope full of recipes I have written down as I have found them on LDL.  As many as I can get I would appreciate since alot of what I have written down so far are somewhat similar.

Wendy,

Just a suggestion to start your own LDL recipe book... Buy a 3-ring binder, some dividers, and 3-hole punched printer paper.  Label the dividers into categories that match the recipe section, e.g., Breakfast, Main Dishes, Salads, etc.  When you print out a recipe, put it into your binder.  This way you can find your recipes easily.  I have one and it is getting so big that I need to buy a larger binder.  Oh the joys of cooking LDL  :D

Here are links to some of my favorites:

Note: I used wasa crackers in place of the Tostitos

Also, here is a link to "so far what's your favorite" topic that was started in July of this year.  I am going to start it up again because I believe it would be really helpful to Newbies like yourself.

HAPPY LDL COOKING  *love*

I thank everyone for all the help it really feels like I am not doing this alone

    2 boiled eggs
L:   Chicken corn Chowder
     Fruit
D:   Bean Soup
     Popcorn

Mikes Day:
B:  egg omelet
L:  Grapes
     Waldorf Salad
D:   Bean Soup
     Fruit
2 Corn Thins w/ spinach dip

Ok I stayed away from raspberry jam yesterday and while fixing lunch I ate a few bread & butter pickles.  By last night I had really bad cravings so I guess that is my answer.  I will just eat them sparingly.
I am making a chicken wrap for lunch but what is chinese 5-spice powder?  Is it in a jar or package?
Is having protein in the morning & having chicken at lunch to much protein for one day?  Should I be putting more fruit into the meals instead?
Mary's Chicken for the wrap was the best with the ginger sauce on top.  Mike decided he didn't want it in a lettuce wrap so I put it inside a cored out tomato.  I ate my chicken meat on a grean salad then put the soy/giner over it like a dressing.  Delicious!
B:  Glass of Juice
3 egg omelet w/ 2 slices thin ff ham, 2 slices cheese
L:  Chicken wrap made into a salad
Frozen Grapes & Lemon made into slushy
D:  Bean Soup
    Popcorn

Mike is going out of town tomorrow to see his mother for 4 days.  We haven't figured out how to send food with him that he can put in a suitcase.  Once there it isn't easy to just go to the store since he won't have transportation.  He is thinking he will just have to eat what is being cooked but choose carefully.

just bear in mind that sometimes if you don't eat until you're really full, you might eat more often and by doing that your blood sugars are not as stable.......OR, not a lot of beans could do it.....OR(this is the big one)STRESS or illness can cause your blood sugars to fluctuate...so, when you feel like that go out of your way to REALLY eat until you're full not eating anything questionable(like sf jam or pickles.........they might NOT be the cause, but they're not going to help)...

Mike got hungry and decided to eat tuna/ff mayo on 4 corn thins.  Can you eat to many corn thins in one day?

B:  Refried beans, 2 slices cheese, 2 eggs
S:  Cantalope
L:  Spaghetti sauce over cabbage strips
D:  Bean Soup
    Frozen Grapes & Lemon slushy

Mike's Day:
B:  Banana, Raspberry & Orange Smoothie
2 Corn Thins w/ Spinach Dip
L:  Spaghetti sauce over cabbage strips
D:  Bean Soup
    Frozen Grapes & Lemon Slushy
S:  Tuna / ff mayo on 4 Corn Thins

Mike ended up not leaving town so will be able to continue fixing meals for both of us.

I will have to pick up some containers that are enclosed and won't leak.  Salads, what a great idea for traveling.  Thanks for the suggestions we can make this work even when traveling we just have to think harder about it.  I am still concentrating alot on food and what to do for the next meal.  I was told this will level out also so I am not so obsessed about this way of eating.  Otherwise, we are loving the food & have not tried a recipe yet we didn't like.

Wendy, I had the same feeling as you when I first began LDL.  I was obsessed about what to eat since I could have so much.  I turned my obsession over to the Lord, and  since then, I have been enjoying every day, and have no plans of ever putting pizza and sweets into my stomach again. I have never had a problem not having breads or potatoes.  Making new recipes has really been fun and they have helped me lose.  I was reelected President of our Senior Citizen board, today.  It will be my third year.  Even though, I am retired, I stay so busy.  I still work part time.  Fun to read your post.  I  also have a little dog.  :rose: :rose: to you, Joyful Friend
