Wendy -- what are blessed eggs?  Is that what you call "deviled" eggs?  I've called them angeled eggs before!   Maybe you're talking about something else.

No they are deviled eggs.  I heard someone years ago called them blessed eggs and I loved it so I have called them that every since.
I hope you had a very nice Thanksgiving

I need some prayer for my potassium levels.  My potassium is running high and when I looked at the food I am eating almost all fruit, most veggies and butter beans are high in potassium.  I went back this morning to eating refried bean dish with a bowl of raspberries.  I just need healed & given wisdom as to whatever it is that is causing my potassium to soar way up there.

B:  Refried beans, 2 eggs, 2 swiss cheese slices
    bowl of raspberries
L:  Left over turkey breast w/ broccoli & homemade cream of mushroom soup casserole, added mixed cheese
D:  Orange jello salad, 3 Corn thins w/ raspberry jam
S:  1/2 bag of popcorn

Mike's Day
B:  4 Corn Thins w/ egg salad
L:  Left over turkey breast w/ broccoli & homemade cream of mushroom soup casserole, added mixed cheese
D: Bean soup
S:  small bowl of cauliflower (fake potato) salad

RECIPE:
TURKEY BROCCOLI CASSEROLE
2C. butterbean - blended
2C. sliced mushrooms
1 C. onion
1T. Garlic
1t. Olive Oil
2T. Worchester sauce
1 head broccoli
2 C. Turkey - cooked
1/2C. ff grated cheese- mixed or chedder

In a fry pan put olive oil and heat on med low.  Add garlic, onions & mushrooms - cook until soft. When done scrape into bowl of butter beans, even liquid. Have turkey & broccoli layered in glass baking dish.  Pour over evenly - add cheese to top.  Cover with foil & cook 1 hr. at 350 degrees.

I generally add 1C. sourcream to the mix but decided not to have milk products in it and it tasted fine.  The mushroom soup part generally takes 1 c. non fat milk but I put in the butterbeans instead.  This turned out a little dry but was tasty.

Wendy, I hope you can get your potassium down.  I can see why one would call deviled eggs blessed eggs.  They are always the first to go.  Kids and adults both like them.  What a beautiful day!  Sunshine and in 60's.  Went to church, now watching football.  Will work this evening.  My doctor saw me at church and asked me to write down what I eat the next two weeks.  He probably won't believe his eyes.  :D  :D Joyful Friend

We are officially a LDL zone in our home.  We cleaned out the pantry, cupboards and the cellar storage.  Every friend and relative I think now has more of our food then they know what to do with.  We gave anything that was canned, boxed or bagged and newly dated to the food bank.  It is amazing how much food we had that was out dated because I would buy food just because if was on sale and i just knew we would eat it at some point.  We looked like a grocery store when we gathered everything together.  Oh thank God that obsession is gone and we buy mostly as needed . Except  I have filled my little pantry with beans, fruit and LDL friendly items that we use alot of.  Before when we started a diet I never got rid of all the things I shouldn't eat just incase I needed a fix but now I have no desire to eat junk food.  I noticed last night when watching tv that the food commercials that before would have me running to the store didn't even bother me. YAY!

Congratulations on the "clean sweep."  I remember doing that last summer and how good I felt about getting all the "junk" out of my house.  I also got rid of my collection of diet books.  Doing both actually made me feel thinner!  I hope it was your BP drug that messed with your potassium levels.  You will probably feel better once you have normalized.
Back to the groceries.  I find that there are things I must always have plenty of in my pantry- canned pumpkin, tomatoes, pineapple, corn thins, and beans, beans, and more beans.  In the freezer I always keep an assortment of frozen fruits and vegetables, chicken breasts and ground sirloin.  The refrigerator has fresh fruits and vegetables.  I even have my husband trained to bring home more of everything when he goes shopping.  LDL has really simplified my life once I got the hang of it.

Pam and Wendy, I fix regular meals for my family; however, I have looked at ingredients since 01 when my DH had open heart surgery.  I do buy mostly  LDl foods now.  My freezers are filled with good  foods.  At one time, I would have thrown  my over-ripe bananas away, but now I stick them in the frig for smoothies.  The same with apples.  I like crisp, juicy apples for eating and cooking; however, the soft ones work fine in smoothies.  I have bought a whole lot more of dried beans.  It's cold here tonight.  Early in the morning, I am driving to KY where our son has his heart cath.  I'm praying that all is OK.  I hope your potassium level is better.  :D Joyful Friend

Wendy Can Mike not eat Fruit?....I noticed that for the last several days he had not been eating any fruit....and on LDL you should have fruit every day...twice a day.. Breakfast and Dinner.  The fruit is what keeps your cravings for sweets and processed sugar under control.  Just wondering....

yes he can eat fruit he just doesn't grab fruit to much.  He did eat a jello salad though that had pineapple, banana & strawberries in it yesterday and will again today.  If he eats fruit it is generally a smoothie on his way out the door.  I try to make things up ahead for him since he is so busy he just grabs and runs.  He certainly could be eating more of it especially at night.

Lpomlove, Thanks for your prayers.  We had many going up to our heavenly Father for him.  He had four stints put in.  I'm so grateful that his daughter is a nurse at the hospital where he had it done, one of the best hospitals in the tristate area. She insisted that he have it, and she got him worked into the schedule.  He was first this morning.  I left at 5:15 and met his wife and daughter.  He will probably feel like a new man.  He is only 47. Thanks again for caring.  :D  and  *love*  Joyful Friend

Yesterday i just felt like I was obsessed with food again which I haven't had a problem with for awhile.  I thought about it and decided it was because I was really stressed yesterday.  I stayed true to LDL and just ate extra fruit and then told myself NO.  It all worked out

B:  4 Corn Thins w/ egg salad made w/ ff miracle whip and mustard
L:  Blackberry & Balsamic Pork Chops
Cole Slaw w/ ff miracle whip, redwine vinegar & 2 splenda pkgs
D:  Orange, banana, grapefruit juice smoothie

Mike''s Day
B:  Refried beans, 3 eggs & 2 slices chieese
L:  Bowl of Chili
    Pint of 1% buttermilk
    Banana
D:  Butternut Soup

That Blackberry & balsamic Pork has to be one of the best things I have ever tasted.  I can't find the Polsamer fruit so had to use sf Blackberry but it was so fantastic.
I saw my heart doctor today and my blood pressure is still up but I know this will get better as I lose weight.  He changed my meds so I can eat all the fruit and hight potassium foods.  He thinks it definately was the meds so I am to just watch and see.  I believe it will be fine I have been praying about it since I know the Lord led me to the way of eating.  I am not much of a veggie eater so I pick and choose carefully what I can handle.

Must have been something in the air, Wendy, I was the same.  Obsessed, starving, tummy growling, the full daffy.  That lasted two days but this morning I'm not quite so hungry so I'll try and stretch it out until 2, for lunch.

Just when you think you're beginning to master your body, eh?

Perhaps it is, Mary, but in my case DEFINITELY not cyclical or hormonal ... so something else must be going on.

Thanks, MaryJ.  I guess I must eat more LDL foods than the rest of you who say you are starving.  I am making zucchini soup now, and when I come back over at 2: 00 from work, I'll blend it, heat it, and eat until I'm stuffed.  When you eat all the fruit you want, it takes the cravings away.  Yesterday when I drove home from the hospital, I passed three McDonald's, and just for an instant, I thought of going into one, but instead, I reached over to the other seat and picked the big yellow delicious Apple up and chowed down.  I also had a bottle of water.  I wasn't even hungry when I got home.  I took a good nap, and  before I went over to work, I did eat some pinto beans, a scrambled egg with left over peppers.  About 9, I had popcorn.  This morning, I had a banana, orange, and cranberry smoothie.  I really eat a whole lot.  It is the first WOE where I have never suffered from cravings nor from hunger.  Then again, I don't go off and wander around getting my cravings started again.  I just can't praise the Lord enough for delivering me from food bondage.  I  know we're all created differently, and for some this woe doesn't work, but for my daughter and me, it has been our answer.  EAT, EAT, EAT.  *love* to all of you.  :D Joyful Friend
