What is the chocolate covered nuts you make in a crock pot.  I'm looking for something to give as gifts...maybe in pretty jars.
Joyful Friend wrote:Wendy, It is great that you bought a new freezer.  It will pay for itself.  I froze grapes, blueberries and other things when less expensive.  I shop the adds and get great deals.  So glad your son will be home for Christmas.  Do you make candy?  When I taught school, we did the 12 days of Christmas.  My classes always helped with the treats.  If I were still in the classroom, I think I would be creative and do different fruits each day.   I'm only dreaming because I'm home now and enjoy making a whole lot of good things.  I usually make a lot of candy.  Last year I didn't because I had a big boot on my foot and used crutches.  Friends carried it in to me, though. I was on pain pills, and my appetite was not good, so DH enjoyed them.  I am not going to make candy, because none of us need the sugar.  I'll  probably make my DH some cho covered nut candy in the crockpot-- It is so easy to make.  I plan to shop next week.  We go to Huntington, West Va.  or to Ashland, Ky. to shop.  It is snowing here this morning.  I plan to watch Fla. Gators and Alabama play football this afternoon.  Should be a great game.   *hug* :D Joyful Friend

Mike decided to  make his smoothie with beans in it this morning.  In cleaning out the freezer we found some regular pork chops.  I will remove the fat around the edge and we will have them for lunch.  I also found ribeye steak so will save that for when my son comes to visiit around Christmas and then I will dress for winter and go outside and BBQ them.  I was thrilled I found rhubarb I had froze and zuccini so now I can use them.  I found quite a few huckleberries left I had froze last year and forgot about.  That is what happens when the freezer is way out in the garage and is usually so incased in frost you can't tell what is in there.
I have to say I convinced Mike to dig out the scale so I could weight today.  It has been 6 days since we weighed last at our 1 month.  I hadn't lost anything but I hadn't gained either so Praise God!

B:  Orange, banana, grapefruit smoothie
L:  Pork chops
    Pizza Soup
D:  3 small mandarin oranges
    3/4 bag of popcorn

Mike's Day:
B:  raspberry, orange, bean smoothie
L:  Pork Chops
    Pizza Soup
D:  Pumpkin soup
    Bag of popcorn

I had a phone call from a lady I don't even know today that wanted all the information on LDL.  I told her what I could then asked her to check out the website.  She said her husband has an artery disease going on with his legs that has to do with clots.  He can't have surgery until he loses weight.  She has health issues also so please be praying for this couple that they will find healing and come to LDL for their weight loss.
I had another friend I haven't seen in months stop by today to ask me about LDL.  She has to go on dialysis soon and wants to find an eating program that will work for her.  God is so good to lead these people to LDL as he did me and alot of others on this board.

dkneram,  Sorry to be so late; however, I've been busy at work, with decorating, and activities that I have not been on the boards.  You asked for the CROCKPOT CANDY.  Roger, this is not LDL and we know it.  It is being made for gifts.  Here goes:  CROCKPOT CANDY
2 16 OZ OF SALTED ROASTED PEANUTS
        1 12 OZ SEMI-SWEET CHOC. CHIPS
          1 4 0Z GERMAN CHOCOCOLATE BAR
1 32 OZ WHITE ALMOND  CHOCOLATE BARK
LAYER IN ORDER IN CROCPOT--COOK ON LOW FOR 2 HRS.  DO NOT STIR.  AFTER 2HRS, MIX TOGETHER.  SLIGHTLY COOL.  DROP BY TEASPOON ON WAXED PAPER. COOL.  MAKES 6 DOZEN.  PUT IN CONTAINERS FOR PRESENTS.  CAN BE REFRIGERATED AND FROZEN.  These are delicious.  The way I feel now, and being able to look better in my clothes, there is no way that I'll eat any.  I'm not going to make them.  Our daughter will bring her dad some.  I love my fruit.  I would love to have some rhuebarb.  My friend gave me some in the summer, and it was delicious with splenda. I can't find any that is frozen. :D  *hug*  Forever Friend :D

We went into Missoula today to take two of our Schnauzer puppies again to sell.  We went by WalMart and found the very last, very small jicama left so will grate it with onion and see how it tastes for breakfast.  This is the first time we have went to a restaurant to eat since starting LDL.  By the time we met  with the lady from Helena and did our shopping it was snowing heavily so decided we had better head home quickly. We are supposed to get 6 to 7 inches tonight but that is still better then the below zero we have been having.  So we went home and grabbed our light salad dressings and went to Pizza Hut and had salad bar.  It didn't bother me one bit to be there and not eat pizza (which is one of my all time favorites)after days of eating pizza soup.  We had a wonderful couple plates of salad and felt very full.

B:  Banana, orange & vanilla smoothie
L:  shrimp from Costco
D:  2 plates of Pizza Hut salad bar
Huckleberry Pie made with a spinkle of vanilla sf pudding powder, black berry sf jello to thicken and sweeten

Mikes Day:

B:  Banana, orange, grapes  & vanilla smoothie
L:  shrimp from costco
D:  2 plates of Pizza Hut salad bar
    Huckleberry Pie

We took the Jicama and shredded it with onion and fried it in a little Olive oil.  We melted a piece of cheese on top and add 2 eggs.  It was ok but very sweet tasting.  I don't think for me it could be an exchange for hash browns but Mike felt it could be for him.  He thought they tasted wonderful.

B:  Jicama Hashbrowns
    Orange, banana, grapefruit smoothie
L:  Steak baked
Pineapple Baked Beans w/ LDL BBQ Sauce
D:  Lime & Grape Sherbert
    Bag of Popcorn

Mike's Day
B:  Jicama hashbrowns
    Huckleberry, orange, grapefruit smoothie
L:  Steak - baked
    Pineapple baked beans
D:  Lime & Grape Sherbert
Corn Thins w/ tuna made with ff Best Foods

We watched Julie & Julia tonight and all that cooking of everything imaginable did not even tempt me.  It used to be even commercials tempted me to go make something in the kitchen every night.  What an improvement!!!

Thanks for your post.  I appreciate all the help I can get.  I do feel lighter and much better.  When we went to town yesterday I even walked through Costco without my back giving out.  It felt great!  I am just so happy on this woe that I don't want to eat anything that will stop my progress.  I am not much of a veggie eater but have found some that I can tolerate so will work on eating them raw instead of cooked.

It looks like a winter wonderland outside today.  It has warmed up and is beautiful with the freshness of new fallen snow.
I was going to have cole slaw for lunch and got the sauce all made then realized I didn't have cabbage to use.  So I just started putting in what I had around the house and it turned out wonderful.  I will post it at the bottom of the page:

B:  Cherry, orange, grapefruit, banana smoothie
L:  Chicken breast baked / w/ onion soup mix sprinkled on top and garlic powder
Water chestnut salad,  ff miracle whip, red wine vinegar & splenda
    2 boiled eggs
D:  popcorn
    Grape & Lime LDL Sherbert
    Banana
    fresh mandarin orange

Mike's Day:

B:  glass of tomato juice
    cherry, orange, banana smoothie
L:  Pumpkin soup
    Salad
D:  Bean Soup
    3 plain wasa crackers

Water Chestnut Salad
2Tbs. FF Miracle Whip
2 pkg splenda
1Tbs. Red Wine Vinegar
Mix these together and then cut up veggies finely:
1/4 c. onion
1/4c. english cucumber
1/2c. celery
1 sm. can water chestnuts - cut into 4ths
1 sm. apple
1 can corn or 1 c. fresh or frozen
I mixed this all together and ate over a salad with carrot slivers and cabbage in the mix.  But it tasted so good it would not have had to be pput over anything.  As I was eating it I was thinking how good it would be with black or red beans in it also.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss

In the last while I have been trying to eat just fruit in the morning but this morning I had a small smoothie and by noon I was really hungry and had to eat some beans.  I had noticed since I weighed on the 5th of December I hadn't dropped any weight.  Yesterday I was real hungry in the afternoon and evening.  I ate a large lunch and by dinner time I ate more fresh fruit and a bag of popcorn and this morning I was down 3 lbs.  So I am thinking trying to eat small amounts of fruit for breakfast and dinner and a small protein meal for lunch is not as good as eating those things in larger amounts.  I know in the beginning we are supposed to eat and eat then as we have been on for a month or so slow down the eating in between meals so that is what I was trying to do but I think I haven't been eating enough so will try to eat more at meals and see what happens.

B:  Cherry Smoothie
    Baked / BBQ beans
L:  chicken breast w/ Blackberry & Balsamic sauce
    Chestnut Salad
D:  Banana, Mandarin Orange, Watermellon

Mike's Day:
B:  chicken sausage & 2 eggs
    glass of tomato juice
L:  Veggie salad
    Bean soup
    fresh orange
rest of smoothie from yesterdays lunch
D:  Chestnut Salad
    mandarin orange, watermellon

Thanks for the candy recipe.  I'm always looking for easy things to make for gifts.
I guess it's wrong to give people gifts of things we know are bad for them. LOL  But everyone has to learn what is good for them.  I ate bad over the past weekend because we were out of town and I suffered for two days after feeling like Mrs. Yuck.  Our bodies sure get used to eating the LDL way quickly, I think.

I fixed a smoothie for breakfast and then I couldn't resist the cabbage rolls that had cooked all  night in the crock pot.  But by noon I stated having a low sugar melt down for some reason.  Has anyone else had this problem? And what can be done or can be eaten to not have these?   This is the second time since being on this WOE that I have had one of these awful spells.  I used to get them when I was junk eating here and there so this isn't new I was just hoping to have overcome them with healthy eating.

B:  Orange, banana, prineapple smoothie
2 cabbage rolls with little bit of home made spaghetti sauce
S:  1 banana
    2 fresh mandarin oranges
L:   bag of popcorn
D:   6 corn thins w/ chicken salad and bread & butter sugar free pickles
      watermellon

Mikes Day:
B:    4 eggs
      5 chicken sausages
      glass of tomato juice
L:    tangerine, rhubarb, orange juice fruit smoothie
      bowl of stuffed cabbage
D:    BBQ Beans
3 corn thins w/ chicken salad
      watermellon

Mike is leaving for his mothers tomorrow until Sunday.  He is planning on eating as well as he can but will have to eat what is served.  I am going to make some pizza soup and I will be just fine.  Plus my youngest son comes home Friday from college for the holidays so I am planning on making him LDL food again this time.  He has been looking forward to coming home and trying the pumpkin smoothie and the pizza soup I have been telling him about.  He always comes home really hungry since he and his room mates are not much on cooking meals.

sicilian mama, for me I want the skin to retract with the weight loss as much as possible.  can't afford surgery and the less hanging skin for me the better.  But I sure did enjoy seeing the little purple elephant move..teehee.

SMama- I can't speak for others, but you have not offended me.  What you are doing is certainly working for you, and you shouldn't change a thing.  When you talk about your reaction to statements others make, I take it that you are talking about your reaction- not condemning someone else's approach.  When we cheat, eat off plan, and do not follow the plan as Roger has written it, we are only cheating ourselves out of the opportunity for success.  For myself, I could probably lose faster if I didn't eat popcorn 4 or 5 times each week.  I also often choose to blend my breakfast fruit into smoothies.  If these actions cause me to discard weight slower than some others, then I feel that is a fair trade-off (for me) to be on a plan that I enjoy and on which I am satisfied.  In conclusion, we support you and are so happy for your success.  There are several safe and reliable trains to Skinnytown.  We can each choose the one that best meets our needs.  Pam

Wendy,

I'm still here on this marvelous website!  I don't do Facebook. Even though it might be a way to spread the word about LDL, I feel it is way too public and believe members will be a little leary of posting their feelings, struggles, etc. on such a wide-open forum.

I am done with shopping, wrapping, cookie making, and sending out packages to children that live in Ohio, Wisconsin, and Hawaii.  Christmas this year will be really quiet for my husband and me, but we enjoy each other's company so I am content to share the holidays with him.  We are both on LDL.  I have been struggling to lose my last goal weight pound this last month so maybe my body is telling me enough!  My husband has lost 35 pounds and looks like he did when I first met him (minus all the hair on his head).  I went shopping for Christmas Eve dinner and we're having our traditional Chinese food, but this year I will be making it instead of takeout -- LDL recipe of course.

I love reading your posts because you have such a wonderful outlook on life and seem to really be enjoying LDL and all of its benefits.  You are getting to be a super chef!!

Merry Christmas to you and Mike  *hug*  :kissed:

Wendy I am still here also, I posted a little on Facebook, but like VickiLynn will do all of my posting here...The little I posted on facebook I was Leary of posting my feelings, but I wanted to help spread the word about LDL....I did that so I am back posting on the LDL website, and another thing we have someone watching to make sure everyone writes stuff that is not bad, and not sure FB has that, and that is one of the things I like about posting here, if you keep posting things you should not, they will cut you off and you can't post, and that makes me feel better here, and I will be here a very long time, if God allows....

Getting the last of the things in the truck for trip to Sandra house, will be a 5 hour trip well maybe a 7 hour trip as my husband will be with me, and I may have to stop more so he can get out and walk around.....

I live in Burleson, TX
Restarted LDL on April 11,2012
Starting weight 295 lbs
Goal weight 125 lbs
