The problem with dripolators and percolators is they end up scorching the coffee. I hate scorched coffee. We read about French Press coffee makers making the best coffee. They do. I love it, but we reverted to heating up 2nd cups of coffee in the microwave. Wanted to stop using the microwave so Hubby dug out a couple old Stanly Stainless Steel thermoses and they actually keep the coffee hot for a long time. Better than the $12.00 stainess vacuum pitcher I bought. Sooooo if and when your percolator gives out, consider a French Press.

Hi Sicilian Mama,

Please say you're still on these boards~ we love your posts! :kissed:

That being said, I was wondering about only having fruit for dinner. I wish I could get away with that but my tummy screams for something more substantial. Do you find that your weight stalls if you add veggies and beans to the fruit for dinner?

Sweetrose...

I have been famished at night too... but really... I just continue to eat fruit until I am as full as I want to be...  I do stay away from banana's at night though... they are 200 calories per ... and that's a lot!

I will have beans very occasionally, but I don't think it will hurt you... just eat a 1/2 cup or so, then follow with fruit... BEANS ARE GREAT to fill up on!!! Especially if you make your own.

I have some great recipes on www.learn2eathealthy.wordpress.com

I'm staying on my journal only... from now on... or until I decide I need to say something again.

Breakfast - homemade refried beans with cooked egg whites and saute's onions on top, and a scoop of fresh salsa... YUM!

Lunch will be turkey, zucchini and garlic meatballs in lettuce cups with balsamic glaze and a side of wilted swiss chard with saute'd onions and a bowl of fruit if I'm not full

Dinner will be frozen fruit salad

tHANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!

I have decided, lately... that I need my big meal to be sort of a 'BRUNCH"...

It's awesome how we can tweak this to suit our bodily needs... I believe that as long as the meal is well before 4 p.m. for the big meal... it'll all be okay...

I don't get hungry, right now... until 10:30... so I eat a big meal around 11 ish... with protein... and I'm great until around 7 pm. and then I have my fruit...

So now... i'm down to 2 and a half meals... and until my body tells me otherwise, this is how I'm gonna eat for a while...

Love it!

Catered a HUGE baby shower today...

I made 20 baguettes of bread, 17 lbs of pasta, 5 lbs of salad, and my Mama made about 500 cookies...

What did I eat while everyone else was eating the stuff they ordered?

Salad, LDL meatballs, more salad and fresh fruit.

then came home and ate two oranges, and a banana...

Didn't nibble even a crumb of the other stuff... there was no need... I had plenty of my own food... but even better... there was no cravings either...

Wow, Mama!

You've got such great willpower~ those are tempting foods! I have trouble with ordinary vending machines near my office, so I'll think of you when I'm about to give in :kissed:!

S Mama,

I'm so glad that you have not disappeared completely from the boards. Even though I am almost at goal, I have slacked off a bit and am finding the last few pounds harder to get off then all the rest. You are such an inspiration to me and I love reading you post.

Thank you!!

Scarlet, no, not gone completely... just replying on things that aren't gonna get me into "trouble" LOL!
Lot's of touchy people on these boards...
***

Had my first really strong craving yesterday... chocolate... and I DON'T ENJOY CHOCOLATE at all, usually, but yesterday was an overwhelming desire to eat some.... sooooo

I relented, and dug into my baking stash, and took out 5 chocolate chip morsels, and let each one melt in my mouth completely before adding another one... and you know what?

IT DID THE TRICK...  crisis averted!!!    I only ate 5 little chips, about 30 calories worth... no fat to speak of... and I didn't want chocolate any more!!!  So it's true... EAT THE SMALLEST, TINIEST amount of a forbidden food as possible, and watch the craving disappear!!!

Other than that faux pas... I ate well yesterday... fruit, turkey/bean burger lunch with salad, and frozen blueberries and mango for dinner...

Gotta to write in my blog now!

Sicilian Mama, I read your articles, but can't get the recipes.  Wonder why?  I really want to get them. I like the way you cook, and have always had the desire to cater, because I love  to cook.  Interesting about the chocolate.  JF
