Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
That's a great idea to try a new recipe every week!
I need to do that so I am better prepared for when My 2 older children come home.
I get scared when they come home as they still want me to cook the same old way. It's easy to get overwhelmed when they are home and gradually not eat LDL.
I'd love to try the recipe with Chicken, fruit and ginger! Ginger is one of my loves! I have never been good at Cooking chicken .... I just don't consider myself a great cook.... especially with chicken.....doing LDL It's about time I learn to cook chicken lol
I see you are using honey...How much are we allowed to use with LDL? I guess I should research that!
I can't remember.
Thanks for sharing the wonderful recipes! Sounds like you are doing great!

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
I have found buying chicken makes alot of difference on how it tastes and how it cooks. I refuse to buy those frozen breasts in a bag that comes on sale here and there. They turn out dry and tasteless. Mostly I buy my chicken breasts at Costco because they are so tasty and stay juicy when cooked. Of course putting sauces on chicken helps it stay moist and delicious. Take a stab at it you will love this recipe.
When my son comes home from college he teases us about all that healthy diet food. But I don't cook anything different unless it is already something that I saved for his visits in the freezer. He loves our food especially the smoothies in the morning.
My husband loves honey and has lost all his weight while eating it here and there and corn thins. I saw where we can eat honey but not alot. Maybe someone who knows more about this can help out so we know what is acceptable.

I will tell you what i think as long as he is not overdoing it I don't think a bit of honey or maple syrup hurts anyone. i think it truly is about moderation in these things... now my opinion was not asked but if he is still losing weight don't knock it... is how I feel.. some people take things to extremes and I would rather see someone eat a bit of honey or maple syrup which basically is natural.. You both have been doing this plan for 4 months and doing well on it so I think the proof lays therein..

Honey is a natural sweetner and is okay to use. I drink a lot of Arizona Diet Green Tea that is sweetened with honey. Also, my husband uses honey on his corn thins -- not all the time but once in a while when he wants a dessert and I don't have an LDL one made.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Wendy,
Question about your Plum Marinated Chicken & Honey Carrots recipe -- do you put the carrots in the dish after cooking the chicken for 45 minutes and then bake again until the carrots are done or do you add the carrots right away with the chicken?
Also, I made your lemon, garlic, apricot jam chicken recipe that you had in one of your posts -- the one that made the sauce to put over brown rice. It was soooooooooo good! I don't think you ever posted it on the main dish recipe board and it certainly deserves to be there for all to enjoy. If you remember this one, will you please post it?

I didn't make that very clear did I. You put the carrots in at the same time as the chicken and cook them together. If the carrots take a little more time(which they shouldn't) then remove chicken and finish up with the carrots until soft.
I love that Apricot recipe and will make sure and post it on main menues.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
I had such a hungry day yesterday. I started out with my smoothie but got hungry before lunch. I cooked the new chicken recipe for lunch and my house smelled heavenly all day. I ended up eating 3 chicken breasts for lunch. By early evening I was feeling hungry and ate a giant apple with SF carmel(a very seldom item) and then had 2 very large plates of marinated wonderslaw and was down a lb this morning. A total miracle! I was so full by the time I went to bed I felt I had blown it by eating too much. Once again this is the best way of eating in the whole world!

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
I had an appointment with my sleep apnea doctor today. She hasn't seen me in 6 months so she was surprised to see I had lost weight. She checked my card and found that since she last saw me I have went from up to 14 episodes a night down just 2 a night. She is lowering the number of air pressure that I use. So that is a start anyway. I hope when I see her in 6 more months I can get off the machine.
She asked me how I lost the weight so I told her all about LDL and she wrote it down to study it. She said she is always looking for a healthy way of eating to tell other patients.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Awesome results, Wendy! From 14 episodes down to 2!!!!
I'd call that success! And you handled your hungry day like a pro! Mmmmarvelous!
I love a drop of coconut extract in ice cream or smoothies, too. Sometimes in Idaho, we need to feel a little tropical breeze. I'm sure you feel the same in Hamilton!
Take care!

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
What a beautiful day, full of sunshine and warmth. We have been in the 60s for 3 days now and my flowers are peaking their little heads above the soil. I am so looking forward to spring!
I made 3 different salads for Bible Study tonight. The SaurKraut salad I made 3 days ahead like the recipe said but I have been tasting it every day and it has wonderful flavor. I made the canned pea salad but I don't like peas so I let my husband try it and he said it tasted great. The salad with tomatoes and cucumbers smells so good. I made it last week for Mike to take to work with chicken breasts. It was supposed to last a few days but he ate it all in one sitting and wanted more. I am still trying to get my Bible study group motivated to do LDL so each week I make recipes to show them how versatile and wonderful the food is.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Mike did his monthly weigh in and had lost 8 more lbs. He is just half on and half off LDL at this point since he is down where he wants to be.
I weighed and wrote down my weight for the last 2 weeks and I have lost 8 lbs during that time. I did measure myself when I began so I plan on
re-measuring today and seeing how many inches I have lost. All together in lbs I have lost 51 since Nov. so I am really excited about that.
