Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss

Post by wendysgoodnews »

My son came home from college this week end for his birthday. We didn't get to see much of him as his friends gave him a big party Friday night and the fights were on Saturday night.  But today I cooked his favorite, Salmon.  I was able to fix the new recipe and he loved it.  He wasn't too impressed with all the salads though.  I wasn't sure if he was going to be here for his lunch so didn't plan any dessert so when he called I quickly threw together a dessert.  I had a pumpkin that needed cooked so I cut it up and cooked it.  Then I took part of it and mixed it with Apricot whole fruit jam and pie spices. I then baked it for a bit.  When I served it(chilled) I put whip cream and cinnamon on top.  It was ok but I think it would have been better with orange marmelade.  He laughed when I served it to him instead of cake, and told me there should be rules about mixing apricot with pumpkin.  Oh well I tried!  He just turned 19 so our diet food doesn't thrill him sometimes.

B:  Orange, Banana & Grapefruit Smoothie
L:  Parsley & Garlic Salmon
Green Salad w/ gregs lite ranch
    Pumpkin dessert w/ whip cream
D:  Rest of Salmon
    Popcorn
    Kiwi

He may not be thrilled with the "diet" food for himself, but I'll be he is thrilled to see you shrinking -- and getting around better and feeling better and having better energy --  and all the rest of the benefits of LDL!

Hmmmm. The pumpkin dessert sounds interesting. I might do some experimenting with that. I love pumpkin custard -- who needs the crust! Adding some fruit variations to the flavor sounds yummy.

Way to go, Wendy!

Thanksc
Boy I hope this beautiful weather holds out.  We are bringing our trailer up to Cd'A on Thursday thru the week end.  We usually don't take it out this early but we want to bring our furry friends and they can't be at my mom's apt.  When I was in Idaho last month I put my name in a drawing and won 3rd prize for $30.00 at Olive Garden so we will be using it why we are there.  I have never ate at an Olive Garden but I am sure there will be food Mike and I can eat and still be LDL.
We have to bring a male schnauzer puppy for a lady in Idaho so that gave us a good excuse to travel there again this month.  But then this type of weather makes me antsy to start my spring and summer camping.

Wendy, You will love Olive Garden's salad-they just keep bringing it until you don't want more.  Roger says that he tells them to hold the bread croutons and add extra tomatoes.  I'm going to do that the next time. They have good LDL foods.  Enjoy, JF

Hi Mary J
We went to Georgia once but other wise we don't get very far.  I like going to Tulsa and Colorado also.  As far as camping we have beautiful lakes around here we enjoy and hot springs.
Do you travel all over in your motor home?

Wendy- One thing I discovered on my vacation is that the Pasta e Fagioli soup at Olive Garden can be ordered without the pasta.  They add it prior to serving.  They brought it to me at 2 different locations and the soup without pasta is similar to chili and seems to be a reasonable choice along with the crouton-free salad, and "no breadsticks, please."  Enjoy.  Olive Garden has wonderful salad- all you can eat!!!  Pam

Thanks for all the help.  It is good to know ahead what to order so I don't get tempted into getting something non-LDL.

We had some friends call us from the new pizza restaurant tonight and ask us to join them.  It was hard to find something we could eat so we did the best we could.  Even with everyone else going on about how good the pizza was it never bothered me not to have any, i just love that about LDL.  I was really hungry for fruit so it didn't seem like more veggies would satisfy that spot but it did and when I got home I didn't feel like I needed anything else.

B:  Orange, Banana, Grapefruit Smoothie
L:  Shrimp stirfry
a few bites of corn beef
D:  Turkey, cucumber, lettuce, guacamole wrap ( we split this)
Bbq chicken salad w/ blue cheese crumbles and dressing (we split this)

Hi Wendy,

Yes, we do travel all over in our RV... Our longest trip was to Vegas a couple of years ago.  Took us 6 days to get out there... we took our time and enjoyed it... When we left there, we drove through CO and it was snowing on us!  This was in May.... LOL It was beautiful, but scary too driving the RV...  We went right by Aspen, I could see the ski slopes... I would love to go back to that area one day and spend some time there...

We spend time each year at the beaches,,, in July we go to Myrtle Beach, in Sept we stay in FT Myers Beach.  We love to go to Grandfather Mountain in NC right after Christmas... We have a beach trip planned next month at Jetty Park, in Cape Canaveral, FL.... can't wait,,, its very pretty there..  We try to use ours at least once a month, even if its only for a quick weekend getaway..

Wendy, I must have missed the slaw recipe that Ollie likes.  I talked with a friend this evening who just loves this woe.  She has lost 19 lbs in a short time.  She is so grateful for it, because like me, it is important  to her to eat until full.  I'm a big eater so  I enjoy all the good foods so very much.  The recipes on the boards are so appreciated.  :D JF

How wonderful for you to travel to so many nice places.  I loved traveling thru Colorado, it is so pretty and I loved Aspen.  Mostly when we get away now to travel we go see family and friends that are not too far away.  My husband loves having a garden so it keeps us somewhat tied to home in the summer.  When we are away we have to find people to water and take care of veggie and flower gardens.  We traveled more when our youngest boy was home and loved to go with us, usually with a friend.

I just saw a new cabbage slaw recipe put on today that sounds really good also called Coleslaw with Basil & Garlic Vinaigrette.  It is made with white balsamic.  What is the difference between regular balsamic and white in flavor?

You are sooooo dedicated.  I have to admit that pizza is one of the very few things that I miss LDL.
Enjoy your trip.

We are home and have most everything put away.  Since we got home so late we decided to eat just enough to get by until morning.  I don't like eating really late at night when I know I will be going to bed in a couple hours.
My mom has been reading the LDL book I left at her house for everyone to read.  She made the best Taco Soup while we were there and is trying to follow the plan somewhat.  She sees how well it is working for Mike and I but just doesn't quite want to give up everything yet.  My sister joined Nutra systems again for the 3rd time.  I just know when they see us again and we are down even more they will come around to seeing the wisdom in eating LDL.

B:  Fuji Apple
    Orange & Banana Smoothie
L:  Balsamic, Blackberry Chicken
    Saurkraut Salad
    Wonderslaw
S:  Popcorn
D:  Fuji Apple
