Post by Gwennaford »

Hi ladies!  You may have already addressed this with Mary and RT, so I hesitate to say anything, because you are losing weight & I'm not . . . So . . . I'll just throw it out there & you can take it or leave it:

It is my understanding hot dogs are not LDL approved because they are heavily processed.  Just because a product is "all beef" doesn't necessarily make it healthy, as it can contain high proportions of beef fat.  I don't know what qualifies as a filler, but all the Hebrew National hotdogs ingredients lists contained hydrolyzed soy protein.  The lowfat hotdogs use modified food starch.  These ingredients are as processed as it gets.  You probably want to be careful using them.

I enjoy making link sausage shapes with the LDL burger & sausage recipes.  One of these days I hope to get a meat grinder & a sausage stuffer attachment to my Kitchen Aid.

Hugs to all -- Gwen

Thanks Gwen
Ya I know but during the summer we do so much BBQing that here and there hotdogs will be the meat.  I have looked at it that they are better then the other kind.  I am just too lazy sometimes to make something else on short notice.
Good to hear from you.

B:  Grapes
L:  Grapes
    Orange, Banana, Pineapple Smoothie
D:  BBQ Chicken Breast
    Coleslaw
    Cucumber Salad

Wendy, I just read your journal. Congrats, you are doing great.  How do you make the cherry pie LDL way. Is it with bananas or something different?  Sounds good.  Thanks for sharing  Karen

This pie is so delicious.  It really only takes a short time to make and makes enough to last for a couple days.
Here is the page for it:

I made 3 new dishes today and they were all good.  The meat called for it to be broiled so I broiled it just long enough to get the topping to secure to the meat.  Then I baked it until done rather then broiled the whole time.

B:  Cherries & Raspberries
L:  Tuna & Black Bean Salad
    Lemon-Mustard Pork Chops
    Sweet Cumumber Salad
D:  Orange, banana, pineapple & coconut flavoring Smoothie
    Popcorn

LOL
What an idea, we can all travel around the United States and see places we have never seen.  That way we can all meet and spend a week cooking for what ever family we visit and then move on to the next place.
Maybe Mary with all her spare time could coordinate all of this for us!haha

Move over, Super Nanny!
Here come's Wendy's Good News.
A new Reality TV Series.
I can see Wendy and Hubby now..... moving in to change one family's WOE for a week!
I can just see the kids with a bowlful of bean soup asking, No burgers? No Pizza??? No Chips??
Oh, yah, and reading labels and cleaning out the frig and pantry!
What a hoot that would be. The weigh-in at the end of the week would be exciting.
A one year follow-up would be even better!

Linda- What an inspired vision!!!  I know Roger would be so excited.  A new reality show.  Are you in Wendy?  Linda, medical expert and executive producer.  Special guest appearances by Roger and LDL members who have overcome all obstacles to become slim and healthy.  Cooking demos.  Dropping blood sugars, plummeting pounds, grateful families, kids who will not grow up to face obesity, communities sponsoring contests such as win your weight in beans...  I can see it now :inlove:!  Pam

Oh yah, Pam, love the contest idea. Guess you would have to take charge of promotions
Niki and Coding Queen are the true Medical Experts here, I will be happy to assist.
Would have to have at least one episode of learning how to eat out....
at Sicilian Mama's Restaurant. I know she will have one soon!
So what do you say Wendy?
Mary J, keep those recipes coming.
Gwen and Little Mary, start planning your food police uniforms. Red hat or pink capri's? or both?
Crickadoodle, got your spandex picked out? You will have to lead the exercises.
Who else wants to join in? Whither? Need a cheering section...get your pompoms ready.
Then we would have to have the family visit Donna (Clown Lady) in the caboose. Sneaky Snoopy will be running along beside it after her Marathon.
Since Ollie started all this, first trip may have to be Ohio. This may be low budget to start with, so Ollie won't mind putting up the whole cast and crew at her place as long as Wendy cooks?

You bet!  I'm in and packing my suitcase as we speak.  I want to do one show at Roger & Anitas so I can see the perfect kitchen Mary talks about.
Hey I think we are on to something here for sure!
